About

The Outback 4wd Club Inc. was established in Alice Springs in June 1996.

The aim of the club is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for people to enjoy the many benefits 4wding has to offer. The club organises both day and weekend trips out bush, social activities in town and provides assistance to other organisations. The club conducts training days for members with different levels of experience from newcomers to seasoned drivers including ladies days. Club meetings are casual with guest speakers and a fun atmosphere.

The club is affiliated with the   VKS 737 Radio Network that provides a national communications network with many members belonging to this group. You can visit their website at www.vks737.on.net

The club raises money for both the VKS Network and the RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service)  through fundraisers and the popular Dobbers Diary.

Our club is actively involved with projects with the NT Parks and Wildlife. We encourage and promote the Tread Lightly principles of looking after the environment.

Having an affiliation with the Australian 4WD Council our members are eligible to participate in an Insurance Scheme that provides real cover in all locations.

The club visits many of the fantastic locations in the Cental Australian region including
  • Boggy Hole
  • Owen Springs
  • Palm Valley
  • Simpsons Desert
  • Kings Canyon
  • Binns Track
  • East and West MacDonnell Ranges

The Outback 4wd club has proudly been involved with the Finke Desert Race since 1997 including assisting with sweep vehicles, communications, manning checkpoints and race control.

The club meets on every 3rd Friday of the month at the Alice Springs Senior Citizens Hall which is located at the northern end of the Todd Mall next to Anzac Oval at 7:30 pm.
Memberships are available from $48 for a single and $60 for a family.
